Exclamation Get a few more inches of ground clearance without bigger tires or a lift?

So I have a 2004 EZ-GO PSD golf cart.

I live in a neighborhood where a lot of the time I end up driving into a friends yard or up a curb in the woods, and could really use just a few extra inches of clearance to climb curbs.

The only thing that ever scrubs is the back (floor board?) that the rear passengers use to put their feet on.

Is there anyway for this to be raised a good bit without having to lift the golf cart or put bigger tires on?

Thanks,

Chad Johnson

Hi Chad,
By relocating the rear springs on top of axle you will gain about 3+ inches. This requires a couple 1/4 in. plates and other small revisions but gives nice rake to cart and I believe will give just what you are after Ken

by 1/2 more clearance you mean like if i have 6 inches of clearance(just an easy example) you would have half of 6 is 3 plus 6 so I would have 9 inches of ground clearance?
or you have 1/2 in. more?

and how much would this cost me?

Hi Chad
I made this conversion a couple years ago on my 04 EZ Go DCS drive and made quickie drawings of what I had(dimensions , etc). I first need to say before you tackle this project that it requires a drill press, layout abilities and general mechanical know-how so If you or a friend are up to this I will recheck everything, clean up my layout drawings and proceed. Just a word on the PDS drive, my other cart has 12" tires-lift kit-rear seat and sorry to say PDS drive. It goes 22 mph but if you are climbing anything forget it especially with a load. PDS drives will heat up quickly and shut down. Put big tires and its much worse. Spend 4 to $600.00 and you can fix it. My DCS drive has a hitch which I use to haul trailer loads of fire wood out of the woods. No problem. Ken

With our combined knowledge I'm 99% positive me and my dad could easily get this done. So if you would be I would be so appreciative.
And when you say pay $600 do you mean buy a new controller or to convert to dcs?

Thank you so much Ken!!!

Honestly Chad, I never thought about the dcs conversion. Have no idea what that would cost but the 600 was new controller, bigger solenoid, etc from what I hear. Myself, I would like to find some local with a dcs that I could switch with. He would have the drag strip ability, I would have the, creep through the woods with people hangin off it, enjoyin the scenery ability. I like the idea you and your Dad workin together toward common goal. I was a tool and die maker for 37 years so will try to make this as simple as I can. Give me a couple days, Ive got some irons in the fire then will get at it. Ken
