Default Pros and cons of Series vs. Sepex(regen)

Hey all, new to the forum and just *got* what appears to be a 1999 txt with what I believe to be the "freedom" package (factory headlights, tail lights and blinkers, full Hard top and canvas cab) . So anyway, according to the sticky on identifiying Series vs. Sepex(regen) it appears this cart is a Series setup (ie. no towing switch on the controller just a simple forward/reverse switch right below the seat ... and thats about it) so I am just wondering as I read through numerous posts what the pro's and cons are to this setup. Not looking to go hog wild on it. It has a "dump box" on it as it came from a commercial facility so they used it for some utility. Seems to work pretty good though ... though in my limited experience is kinda pokey going uphill.

Anyway to stay on topic just curious how limited I am in further modding due to it being apparently a "Series" type setup. ? Any and all info welcome. Thanks.

The sky's the limit You can upgrade just about every part on that cart. Dont ask me how I know

Actually I think the txt series has the most options out there as far as upgrades but I could be wrong

Lol. thanks! well this was kind of a gimme, I have modded off road trucks and a fair number of other pieces of machinery but nothing of the "electrical" persuasion before. I am very lucky in that my neighbor and close friend is an electrical engineer, so that is some help. That said ... I am starting with cleaning all connections and verifying the integrity of the whole battery pack. Hydrometer testing is next, but sorry for getting off topic.

The area where I get kinda foggy is .... as the topic states where am I at a disadvantage in terms of Series vs. Sepex(regen) ? I get from reading numerous posts that Series is less efficient though definitely would like to stand corrected if that is the case.

To be honest I dont know, someone will chime in. I have what I have so I work with what I got. I got to much money in it now to worry about which is better.

It doesnt matter anyways because mine is better (thats what I say)

Have fun with it man

Series motors are more forgiving and produce more torque. They will take some abuse and so are more easily adapted to offroad abuse and large tire loads etc.
Sepex motors are more efficient and produce more speed. They are more suited to street use in my opinion.
Series are in no way limited, they just require more money if you want speed.

Awesome, thanks so much for the quick cliffs notes on it. I appreciate it and will spend some time researching previous posts to see where I am best off looking to increase my performance. Torque and "low end grunt" interests me more than speed, so maybe I kinda lucked out. Thanks again.

It seems you have either lucked out or chosen wisely

Your best bet is to contact Scottyb and he will take care of everything. I've bought a bunch of stuff and I don't know much about wiring but he has talked me thru it. HD f/r switch, 48v conversion, 800 amp controller. etc....
