welcome, you need to break new batteries in but it seems you should get more runtime than that so 1st what brand batteries did you get and are they golfcart batteries not just deep cycle? and are all connections clean and good and tight? and they are all cabled in right? all pos to neg connections?...........don,t forget there is a break in procedure....................

Question Re: does not hold a charge for very long

06 E-Z-GO?

Here is a battery setup for you.

In this picture the top right battery should have the main + connections on it. The bottom right should have all the main - connections on it.

You need a digital voltmeter to properly assess you batteries.
All the big box store sell them, Lowes, Homedepot, Walmart, etc.
It could be that you have not properly charged your batteries before riding the cart? A voltmeter reading will tell.
New batteries need to be charged before they are used, and new batteries are only about 75% of their potential power when new. It will take from 20-150 charge and use cycles to reach their full potential.

Question Re: does not hold a charge for very long

Well how long did it go before the battery swap? Did you ever put it in a bind? Have you let the charger run it's full length of time to charge the batteries fully? A new set of batteries will take 16 hrs of charging in some cases.

before i had problems it would run all day. i charged it every evening. then all of the sudden it would only run about 30 min. so i tested the batteries and 3 where bad, so i changed them. all 6 show to be good. i live out in the sticks about 2 miles from a lake and i had always been able to ride down the lake and back with no problem. then out of nowhere i barely made it out of my driveway and it started losing power. also i had never heard it beep until i replaced the batteries.

Do you have a toggle switch F&R on the dash ? If so put the cart into diagnostic mode and tell us what codes you get?
