Default Batteries stolen, replaced still have problems

I need some help. My cart was hit by the druggies last week and they stole all my batteries and cut all the cables (and the neighbors) I used the wiring diagram for 36 volt EZ GO and hooked everything up as stated with new cables. The batteries are taking a charge good...but the cart doesn't seem to be getting any power at all. Still need to charge some more? Are there any resets to do when this happens. Any help will be appreciated. It is a 1999 Electric TXT per the serial number search. Am I missing something?

Does your cart have a run/tow switch on the controller cover? Does your solenoid click when you hit the gas pedal with key on? If solenoid does not click when you hit pedal, then the druggies probably popped the reed switch during the battery removal if they just starting cutting cables and yankin batteries.

I have heard about stuff like this happening in my area also. Sure seems like an extreemly hard way to make a buck to me. If I was a criminal, I think I could come up with an easier way to make a living. Heck, they just put out over $100 in labor for scrap metal money. Kind of eats into their profit I would think.

No tow switch that I have seen. It was at the beach house and they even cut the copper pipes out of the houses. Good news is they were arrested. Bad news I now have plastic water lines and a golf cart that 700$ in new batteries still wont go.

No clicks no nothing since install of new batteries. where woudl the reed switch be located. They cut the battery cables and the charge + and -. Other than that no other wires were cut.

Good to hear that they were arrested. That is some very desperate people to do all that damage and risk their lives like that.

Reed switch is located inside the charging receptical. Notice how your charging receptical has three wires coming out of it? The small wire goes to the reed switch. It is basically a fuse. There are plenty of threads on this forum that will go into detail on how to bypass the reed switch to see if it is blown. This can be done without taking the charging receptical apart.

Do you have 36 or 48 volts at the last positive terminal?

I found those threads, when i look at my charging recept the small white wire had been either cut or ripped out. I am not sure where that wire went but like you said it probably popped it when they cut or ripped. I tried the bypass but it looks to me if i bypass the reed switch and run across the cart to the + that isnt going to do anything. It is basically tied to the white in the charge plug I think.

Sounds like the reed switch. also, get yourself a quick seat lock. cabinet locks work well.

That wire usually runs from the charging receptical across the cart and connects to one of the terminals on the inside F&R micro switch. Find the break in the wire and hook that end to the #1 pos battery terminal.

as tdawg said.run a wire directly from the first positive to the the left micro switch on the frt-rev. switch. then you won't need the reed wire at all. it is the larger red wire in this pic.
