Default Need some expert opinion before I buy this cart

I was talking to a guy down here, south florida, selling a 2005 EZGO PDS. The cart body is in ok condition, no dents, but a few scratches and scuffs and his kids painted their names on it with "puffy paint". I assume the paint will come off, so I'm not that concerned with it. Also, it has no roof and only two seats with bag straps in the back. He plugged it in to charge and the batteries are shot, Trojan 2005 batteries. I was able to put the cart into diagnostic mode and it gave me the "low voltage" reading. So obviously I can't ride the cart to test it and I will need at the least new batteries.

He's asking $600 for it, as-is. What do you think is a good price for it? What's peaking my interest is the ability to put a chip in the cart and instantly we have a faster cart, but maybe I'm being short sighted.

Thanks for your help.

Thumbs up Re: Need some expert opinion before I buy this cart

Lets see, $600 for the cart then another $600.00 for the batteries. Tops are easy to come buy. Go ahead and buy the back seat kit with extended top another $600 for all of that maybe even less.
$600
$600
$600
$1800.00

That is a deal. That's a $2500 cart easy in my area with all that on it!

I am no authority on carts, especially electric ones, but that sounds like a good deal for a 05 PDS, they are nice carts. If everything is there, and is mostly surface issues.. You need to be ready to spend a few bucks but you will have a cart you know about, and can do most repairs on after a while, and is nice.

I would be looking at finding the low route at 5 bills for batteries etc, and maybe twice that if I went with really good stuff, but then you have a nice cart.

sounds like a great deal to me, I just bought an 08 PDS for $2195 and the previous owner must have hated taking care of batteries so I just bought a new pack. You will be getting away for less that 1/2 of what I did and end up with virtually the same thing.

Buy it or tell me where to get it

Sounds like a good deal to me also. I bought my '01 PDS for $550. Roof and seats were in perfect condition (needed a DEEP cleaning), but car sat under a cover patio for 2 years not running (had rats nest under front cowl and was a disaster under the seat). Batteries were bone dry, so I figured that was the problem. Put new batteries in it and it ran just like new. I have around $1200 all together in mine including lift, since the wheels and tires were free. Body had some scratches pretty deep, but I took care of that with the herculiner
