Default To Lift Or Not To Lift... 08 PDS

That is the question...

I finally got around to getting my new cart, picking it up on Friday and I already have a list a mile long of modifications to make. (I've been reading lots of posts here)
The cart will be neighborhood use 99% of the time, with very little off road, which would consist of no terrain rougher than what you would find on any golf course. I am adding the rear seat and will have passengers on board. I know the lift looks cool and allows larger tires, etc..

I'm trying to decide if I should lift, or just go with some nice large wheels and street treads. I know the lift looks cool and allows larger tires, etc..
(not interested in lowering)

Are there any other pros/cons to lifting that I'm missing out on, such as ride quality, handling, efficiency, etc...?

If not to lift, what's the best wheel and tire size combo to go with?

Sorry for double question and thanks in advance for helping a rookie!

You can put a mild lift like a jakes 4" spindle lift and stuff the wheel wells full of tire but you are going to need to upgrade the drive system to do that and add passengers.

You can add 12" wheels and low profile tires to stock suspension and have no issues with rubbing.

If you want the look, I agree with ScottyB.
Also realize the rules regarding center of gravity, any lifted cart is less stable than a non-lifted cart.

Thanks guys, I've read alot on this topic, but I'm still undecided...just get some wheels and low pro's and call it good, or wait untill I can stock up on lift, wheels, tires, controller, cables, etc...and do it right the first time. Time (and $$$) will tell.

I guess it really depends on what you plan on using it for. Do you see yourself going offroad occasionally with it? Or do you plan just to cruise the streets with it? You can always buys the wheels you want now, then purchase tires later. You get a better deal with them together but it is an option.

Thanks Husker. I don't plan to go offroad other than on my lawn. I really just run up and down the street to my buddy's house and haul the coolers and fishing gear down to the dock, no long range runs or any thing like that (usually never over 2 miles, mostly short trips of 200 yards back and forth from the dock). I want to lift it, but from what I have read about problems with lifting the PDS carts has me a little concerned.

Do you guys think I would have problems with my normal usage?

If I did burn up the controller, is it just a drop in with an upgraded 400 or 500 AMP unit and new 4 ga. cables, or would it do more damage to the rest of the drive system?
