96 lifted EZGO drifts all over road..
We just purched a 96 lifted EZGO 36 volt cart. It has 23" tires, and what I believe to be a 6" lift. When driving down the road the cart tends to drift from side to side, but has little play in the steering wheel. We removed all steering componants and everything looks new and tight. What else could cause this issue? Could a stabalizing shock in front be a remedy? Thank you for your help!

Could be the tire sidewalls rolling, you can try raising your tire pressure a little to firm them up(?) |

No expert but sounds like a toe problem. Set steering straight as possible and pull tape measure to front and back of tires. Should get u in the ballpark.

Re: 96 lifted EZGO drifts all over road..
Angabug, any luck? I just recently got a 97 EZ-GO 36v lifted and am having the same issues. Mine has 20" tires on a 5" lift, I think. My buddy has the same cart and his steers very smooth and easy. Mine is very hard to turn and tends to not want to return to strait when making turns. I see there are a few zurk fittings that I assume I should try to lube. I have already set the toe as close to where it should be and aired up the tires with only a little improvement.

Too much air in tires and too much toe in will make a cart wander all over the road, not enough air and too much toe out and the cart will be hard to steer and will drift to one side or the other. Inflate your tires to the max on the sidewall (some are only 5 PSI and when the shop mounts them you get them back with 20+). Try to get your toe to between 0 and .25" toe in and then test drive. After you change air pressure or toe in/out, take a test ride and see if there is a difference. If you go with the recommended settings you should have a decent ride. A note about tires, the style of tread and quality of manufacture can greatly affect handling. Twenty dollar tires will give you a twenty dollar ride.
