Default ez go charging problem

im VERY new to golf carts..bought an 2003 ezgo 36 volt yesterday.it came with a power wise charger..i got it home and rode it for a while,and it died..went to charger it and the charger read about 23 for a minute or so,the straight to zero....can someone help me on what to do..thank you

welcome to BGW.....start with the batteries 1st how old are they, can you use a voltage meter? if so take voltage readings from each battery you need approx 28 volts for charger to turn on but you said it did come on for a few seconds so that says there might be a problem....you just bought it can you call and see if there was anything done before you got it? a little history may make finding the problem a lot easier..............................

2 things can make this happen.

1st is the receptacle could be worn out and the plug is loosing connection= replace the female connectors in the receptacle.

2nd is the charger may need a new circuit board. Let it rest and then try it again if it does it at about the same time interval, especially if it goes on & off, then the circuit board is bad.


3rd. If it won't come on wiggle the plug in the receptacle? ... there is a fuse inside of the charger.

shadowman...honestly im not 100%sure...but its charging now!!??i will check all other replies also just to make sure its nothing but a beginners error!1lol
