Default What does E-Z-GO do when they take back the leased carts from golf courses?

Do they refurbish them? Sell them as-is wholesale? Can the general public pick one up?

I would say most of the time they wholesale them out and they land up on dealer lots. Sometimes can be picked up for a cheap price or the dealer refurbs them and marks them up.

Check around you and ask the local guys. There is always someplace that tells you when the semi comes in with a truck full. That's how I got my cart its a off lease PDS from Las Vegas that got sent all the way to sunny Florida to be sold Cheep.

When the lease is coming to an end ~ The dealers bid on the fleet, sometimes this includes on site inspection, Based upon the dealer sales Ezgo tries to negotiate a new lease. Long story / short .... Carts go to dealers in bunches... sometimes big bunches

The guy I got mine from had 20 PDS carts and 10 Gas carts off the same course. He flipped 10 to another guy the day I came in.

Quite a few carts come back to Augusta to be cleaned up, new batts and what ever the next lease requires and they go back out to another course. Some of the extras get sold by the dealer doing the referb

ok, here is the long story made short......

When the course leases the carts, they typically do a 4 year lease. At 3 years, E-Z-GO comes in and offers to "short" the lease and install a new fleet (keep in mind the after 3 years, the warranty has expired and the course would be responsible for any service/maintenence for the remaining 1 year of the lease if they decide to not swap, so most typically do swap them out). When the new fleet arrives, the old fleet is then either delivered to a dealership (who has purchased them for VERY low $$) or they are shipped to the local E-Z-GO branch location (which could be hundreds of miles away so they REALLY try to offload them to dealers in the area whenever possible). If they do go to the Branch location, a decision is made to either try to sell them off for an even cheaper price (and yes, I have seen 3 year old carts sold for $500 each) OR they are shipped out to a rebuild center (for example, Golf Car Systems rebuilds about 200 cars a month in the Tampa area and E-Z-GO actually opened up it's own rebuild center in Texas a few years ago) where they are stripped to the frame and completely refurbished and then sold to dealers as rebuilt cars (again for a VERY low price compared to the total of the new parts installed on them).

To answer the last of your Questions, no, they are not sold to the general public by E-Z-GO because of trade agreements that they have in place that do not allow them to compete with their dealer network.

Thanks for all the info. Do the dealerships typically purchase the entire fleet?
