Default controller did not fix problem

Well, I tried to rebuild a curtis controller for my fatherinlaw model 1206sx.
After rebuilding and installing, got nothing when pedad pushed. He went and bought a new one, and still he gets nothing. The controller was definitely
fried. Diodes and fets were blown. Where should he go next. Is there a fuse,
or something in the motor. I don't have a lot of time to help him.

Is the potbox sending input to controller. Should have reading of 0 ohms at no throttle and 5000 ohms full throttle. Also should be a couple of micro switches in circuit. Check out wiring diagrams at top of EZGO thread.

Check the throttle first. If it test's good move onto the solenoid and make sure its good. Just because it clicks doesn't mean anything. Then check for continuity between the S and A terminals on the motor with no cables connected to the motor. If you have continuity between the S and A there is a short in the motor somewhere. Make sure all your other wiring is correct.

I will try that. I was wondering if the motor could have something like a short in it.

Search on site for motor test. I'm no expert, but from my reading, the motor is not the culprit of problems most of the time. Check wiring, solenoid, etc, first.

Let me back up. You can test the motor very easily. If motor checks fine, then you can rule the motor out of your problem. Then check wiring etc.

Very possible. Its pretty easy to get the F/R switch apart.

So is the solenoid good, a lot of times the solenoid fries when the controller fries. There is also a main fuse that protects the cart. If you open the recptacle box where you plug the charger in you will see it. It is the little wire, usually red with a black fuse that you cant see. Maybe it has blown. Easiest way to test it is to bypass it, not the safest thing to do but it works. Good luck. Also have you tested all of your batteries, and by tested I dont mean checking the voltage, just because the voltage is good does not mean that the batteries can handle a load. Good way to test is get a load tester.
