Help with controller upgrade
The controller in my 95 medalist has gone bad. Since I will have to replace it I am considering upgrading to 400amps. The cart has a stock motor, is lifted, and has 20 inch tires. Also Just recently put on new 4ga. wires. I do not want to upgrade the motor (not looking to increase speed but a little more torque would be helpful). Any ideas on which brand/model number will work best for this cart? The bad controller is a ez-go 4 terminal with a 5 prong plug in. It seems to be somewhat small when compared to the dimensions of some of the 400amp controllers I have seen online. Is there one that will fit the medalist?

Re: Help with controller upgrade
Contact ScottyB from Carts Unlimited, he is a site sponsor and a very helpful person. I would say use an Alltrax 400 AMP and I know he has all the diagrams to assist you in setting it up.

Thanks for all the input guys. What about the solenoid? Will the stock one work or will I need a different one?

Re: Help with controller upgrade
Your stock solenoid is rated 70 - 100 amps continuous. The HD unit included in the basic Ezgo Series Pkg #101 is a 200amp continuous/800amp peak unit.

Re: Help with controller upgrade
There is a distributor Flentek Solutions that has a 1221B-4801 that has a adapter harness that is a 600A controller for that cart that is listed as a lifted cart drop in package. They also have a 1204S-5401 that is a 450A version for a performance upgrade package. What is nice is that they come with harness and mounting hardware, just plug in and your off

Re: Help with controller upgrade
Not to hijack the thread....... but Scotty -- My wife is gonna be calling you..... It's my "Birthday" and my cart is set to "show" (6" lift, 23" tires, new rims, custom paint) -- now I need it to GO........... I'll look your site over and see what I "think" I need and then send her your way....... If you can make the install "idiot proof" that's PERFECT!
