Newbie Battery Questions
New to the forum and golf cart ownership. I bought what I think is a 1997 Series. It went on the charger for the first time last night.
Is it ok to use an extension cord with the charger? My options are limited on this house. There is a red plug coming from the back of the cart. What is it for? You can see from my pics the the plug receptacle housing is broken. Can I replace just the housing, or do I need to buy a new receptacle? New seat covers, paint, headlights, and a radio are all on the to do list. Thanks for all the info on this site. Re: Newbie Battery Questions
I replaced the whole receptacle when I changed mine out, it came with all of the wires attached it was simple to switch. I have no idea what t he wire coming out the back is for? Do you have a separate 12v battery for accessories and is it for that?

Re: Newbie Battery Questions
Have you traced the wire back where does it go?

Re: Newbie Battery Questions
No separate battery, there are no accessories yet.
It goes straight to the batteries, maybe an alternate method of charging? Last edited by Duscarter; 07-21-2011 at 10:58 AM.. Reason: traced wire from the back |

Re: Newbie Battery Questions
Thanks JohnieB, it does have taillights, but no headlights. There is an antenna on the extended roof, so I guess it had a radio at one time.
Anyone use a dash overlay? Did a forum search and only got one result and it was in the Yammy forum. I was wondering how well they fit on EZ's. |

Re: Newbie Battery Questions
Last time I saw a plug like the red one was about 25 years ago when I worked in a warehouse. It was one a forklift for charging. If I had to make a guess, they were using some other kind of charger to charge the cart instead of the standard receptacle and charger. You said the wires go directly to the batteries?

Re: Newbie Battery Questions
Nice cart do you have a pic of the charger you are using now?
I have a carbon fiber dash overlay. Its not officially installed yet since I am about to pull it apart to paint. It fit great and has locking glove boxes. Looks smooth. |
