Charger not charging?
Seems as though when I charge the cart, it usually starts out at around 20 amps and then slowly goes down as the batteries become charged. Does this sound right? Well, two days ago I put it on a charge and after several hours it never seemed to move off of the 20 amps. I lifted the seat because you can usually hear the batteries bubbling. That was not the case this time. So, I used it for 24 holes yesterday and it made it ok, but I know it's not fully charged. Any input? All the cables look fine and nothing seems out of the ordinary. When I get a chance I will try to find another cart to plug into my charger and see if it charges that one, but like I said the charger looks to be doing it's job, it just seems like something in the cart is keeping it from charging.
Thanks, Jimmy |

Re: Charger not charging?
If you are unable to try charging a different cart with your charger or charging your cart with a different charger, try monitoring the battery pack voltage while using your charger on your cart.
If the battery voltage doesn't increase from what it is a minute or so after the charger kicks on, the charger isn't being told to decrease the charging current, so the charger is doing what it is being told to do, so it may be good. If the battery voltage increases, but the charging current stays the same, the charger isn't doing what it is being told to do, so it may be bad. While you've got your DVM out and the seat up, it might be a good idea to check the voltage on each individual battery before and after charging. They should all measure about the same. (+/- 0.1V or so, maybe a little more/less. If anybody knows what the tolerance ought to be. Please chime in.) |
