Default Key protected high speed bypass

I am sure this has been done before but I couldn't find anything about it on here so I thought I would share. I am the new owner of an 08 ezgo pds cart after I got it home and consulting with a few members of this board I did the following. "Speed chip" #4 setting if thats what you want to call it, just really two jumpers and a plastic clip, battery meter, PQ Bandit, and a couple of other cosmetic things. Well the first test drive was unreal haul a** I tell you. Well the dilema came from not wanting to turn my two boys loose on this thing in my neighborhood at speeds of around 24mph so I had a revelation. After comparing all of the "chips" I noticed the one thing they had in common was the inner jumper the outer jumper was either not there or in a different location. So what I decided to do on the red high speed "chip" was to cut the outer jumper loop and extend the wires to the dash and connect them to a keyed switch I purchased from Advanced Auto for like $12. Attach one wire to the ignition terminal and the other wire to the accessory terminal when the key is inserted and turned to the right you will have your high speed mode when the key is rotated back to the left and taken out you cart will be in the high torque mode with full regen and a top speed of 13mph and it works great but the kids hate it. If anyone would like the schematic of this modification just pm me.

That is a neat idea. If I ever get my cart to go any faster and that type of mod is possible on my cart, I would definetly be interested. Maybe you could get your schematic put up as a "Sticky"

I must admit; it's the simple mods that set some projects apart.

Remember you still have to toggle the run tow switch. If you don't and you turn off the freedom chip it will still stay in freedom mode.

I used a simple rotary switch in mine so I had all 4 modes available. I would recommend the Red Freedom chip to everyone and then you can make any or multiple chips out of the one.

Yeah I have the run tow switch mounted on the dash. I looked at the toggle switch option but that simply wasn't going to be secure enough. I did this mod to the freedom chip but I just didn't see any real use for the other two settings that were available. I figured the best of both worlds high torque, full regen and high speed with no regen.
