Default Solenoid Resistor & Diode Mounting

In the ongoing effort to simplify installation of Controller Packages & reduce frequently asked questions, I am always making up new instruction sheets to send out with the components.

I just bought a new solenoid from an EZGO factory repair shop that when I asked about the diode and resistor they told me that they quit putting both of them on. Is he just setting me up to sell me a new controller?

I know another reputable Ezgo factory tech who does not use them either..... & other Ezgo Dealers who do..... The factory puts them on. The controller manufacture require them. They cost a few dollars so why not use them?

I agree but it would be nice to see some statistics.

I won't sell a controller pkg without them & no cart leaves my shop without them.
I'm glad you ordered yours. End of discussion

Scotty, 10 plus years of changing solenoids and I have yet to blow a controller because of lack of a diode/resistor...... Not saying I am the end all be all, but just stating my personal experience. If the customer asks for it, I install it.... I do have them in stock.

The same Ezgo engineers who do not think it is necessary to put a grease fitting on a king pin because it saves $1 on every cart.... feel it is necessary to put a resistor and diode on the same cart.

ummm Scotty, these are the same engineers that installed a sonic weld UNDERNEATH the floorboards of a cart and didn't protect it from the elements.....

The same engineers that after 5 years of field testing produced the RXV using 4 12v batteries and then ran all the accessories off only 1 of them knowing that the controller was not gonna like seeing the voltage drop.

The same engineers that came up with the reed switch idea and then insisted it was the fault of the customer when they failed on a regular basis...

no offense, but I put little faith in those engineers.....

Oh yeah, and I didn't mention the prototype cart based on the TXT frame that they sent out that incorporated hydraluic (sp?) brakes and installed the master cylinder UNDER the cowl where you couldn't get to it to check/add fluid as needed........
