36v Battery PAC takes Dive!
Ran a battery pak test.
Voltage read of 34.5 and dropped all the way to 2.5 volts when pedal pushed to floor. It drops like a rock in about 3 sec. Switch on, F/R switch in fwd position. Selnoid clicking away. 1996 36 volt medalist. |

Re: 36v Battery PAC takes Dive!
From my old service station days, load testing should be done on a charged battery. From what I've seen on here 34.5 volts is not charged.

Re: 36v Battery PAC takes Dive!
Agreed but what's it gonna drop to from 38v ? .....9volts
Okay sorry, I thought it might be dead batteries..... you can try recharging... they have water, right? And do the test again but it may just be a waste of AC You have inspected all the cables? there is no bad connection? |

Re: 36v Battery PAC takes Dive!
Will charge and run the test again.
Is this (ck'n batteries while pressing pedal) considered a load test ??? Follow up: Placed on charger 2.5 hrs ,,chger shut off ... . Appears to not need much charging? but still only 34.5 v max on battery pak. With DVM controller test , neg probe on M and pos on B+ she dives from max to 3-7 volts. That load test is either telling me I need batteries > Still puzzled about solenoid test getting 34.5 volts on each side? Last edited by 10tontractor; 07-27-2011 at 09:19 PM.. Reason: update |

Re: 36v Battery PAC takes Dive!
I watched a not so honest service tech sell a lot of batteries to to not so savvy folks by load testing dead batteries. The meter on the tester showed 12 volts but when you put a load on it, NOTHING. Always charge them before load testing and if they still hit the floor then you KNOW.

Re: 36v Battery PAC takes Dive!
There are a lot of possibilities here. 1st yes, the cart motor acts as a load tester. Put a DVM on any cart that runs and watch it go from 38.4 to 35 up a long steep hill and settle back to 38.3
You said the batteries were abused ... my guess is damage was done. & I'm not selling you batteries |

Re: 36v Battery PAC takes Dive!
[QUOTE=10tontractor;599374]No, the batteries appear good but one only shows 4 volts.
4 volts sounds like a dead battery (A 6 volt battery produces around 2.3 volts per cell. That is 7.2 volt for a fully charged, perfect battery. A 6 volt battery that reads 6 volts is considered to be a dead battery.) |

Re: 36v Battery PAC takes Dive!
4 volts IS a dead battery and it will act just like his pack is acting. Keep trying to ram amps into it and the next thing you know, BOOM! Just how old ARE these batteries?
