Exploding batteries!
This car was brought to me today with EVERY battery blown. its 107 degrees here in Texas. Every once in a while we all need a reminder that we are sitting on hydrogen bombs...

Re: Exploding batteries!
That looks like an auto fill system. I thought this usually happens when they are low on juice. Is that wrong?

Re: Exploding batteries!
Dang that looks like it could be dangerous. Did this happen while the customers were on the cart?

Re: Exploding batteries!
while the customer was on the cart. granted they drive HARD. my thoughts is one post melted through the casing and the ignition spread through the battery fill system to the other batteries. all cells were low!

Re: Exploding batteries!
wow, hope everyone was ok. To see the batteries "warped" like they appear to be in the last pic is scary !

Re: Exploding batteries!
Holy SCHNIKEYS!
I am convinced this was caused by hydrogen gas builup in those tubes because of low electrolyte levels in the cells. One spark and BOOM! I will NEVER recommend these autofill systems to ANYONE. |

Re: Exploding batteries!
Yea that just sounds like a dangerous setup. You really gotta be lazy to install one of those.

I had this happen to 1 battery in over 20 yrs and I live in the ca desert where its over 120 many times & 107 is not so bad, you must have been low on water. kirk
