Default DCX 400 Problems

I just purchased an Alltrax 400 amp controller for my 2002 PDS. it's never been ran or anything. When the run/tow switch is put to run the led lights up green on the controller EVEN WITH THE KEY OFF! now with the key on and put in either forward or reverse the SOC meter comes on and the controller flashes red 5 times. I DO NOT HAVE A MOTOR INSTALLED CURRENTLY. why is the key switch not turning the controller on and off and and what are the red lights for?

yes.

Every Alltrax control comes with a little mini-manual for your model control AXE or DCX etc.
Listed under trouble shooting are the red flashy codes.... 5 = open field.

Glad that's all it was.

Open field? Because I don't have a motor on it? And it's not a closed loop? I still want to know why it turns on with the key off that's not right. Your meter read 35.8 volts so I'm charging the batteries up.

ok, it's normal for the light to come on on a PDS cart. The light turns on to confirm that power is going to the controller. keep in mind that the controller actually supplies power TO the keyswitch.

As for the reverse buzzer, this is going to sound crazy, but try swapping the wires on the buzzer itself.

So the light on the controller is always on regardless of the key switch?

correct. as long as the run/tow switch is engaged, that light will be on. Don't worry, it is LED and will draw minimal power from the pack.

Okay awesome!!!! Thats exactly what I needed to know. And the flashes indicate an open field. Is that because th e4 wires that are supposed to hook up to the motor are just laying there???
