New cart purchase
I just bought this cart and am wondering if it is worth fixing up and using. It is a 1982 marathon. Seems to be in sound shape. I know it needs batteries, and cables, but everything else seems pretty solid. Paint will have to be tackled but I am not worried about that. Anybody have any experience with this model/age of marathon? Thanks for the insight. I have an 87 marathon that is my first cart and I notice some differences in the two mechanically.

Re: New cart purchase
Heck yes they're all worth fixing up aren't they? I have an 84 and I think this is prob pretty similar to it. From my limited knowledge I think the 82-86 Marathons are pretty similar. Looks like it is in pretty good shape. The roof looks like it has been modified, at least compared to mine.

Re: New cart purchase
Thanks John, yes it is in pretty solid shape. I have an 87 as well that I have fixed up a little bit. The 82 seems to be in as good shape as the 87. I am not sure which one to go with. Oh well. I am going to sell one and get a gas version.

Re: New cart purchase
Hey Sporty, nice looking cart. I didnt know which to keep and which to sell. I am gonna put cables in the new one and trade the batteries out and see how it runs. Then I will make my decision. Thanks.

Re: New cart purchase
Stripped it down, and put a first coat of paint on it. Not too bad. I also removed all the old cables and got new ones to install. Cleaned up the battery boxes and engine area and sprayed down the inside with rubberized undercoating. Just getting started. I am wondering how a set of flame stickers would look?

Re: New cart purchase
Got it all painted, cleaned up the battery box, replaced a bunch of cables. Put everything back together and charged it after refilling the batteries with distilled water. It ran great. Am gonna replace the batteries eventually but just wanted to make sure it ran without too much problems and it did great. Now I have to decide if I want to keep both of them, or sell. Tough decision.

Re: New cart purchase
keep em both ,that way you can ride one while adding fun stuff to the other one, because there's always something to add or change
