Default my first cart

bought this recently. it is my first cart.
ezgo txt.
j299
1206649
it is a 36 volt cart. i think it is a series cart. it has trojan t-105 batterys, but they are different years.
three of them are 2005
one is 2006
and two of them are 2007. they seem to charge up, but i have a long hill where i live, and it really slows down by the time i get to the top. its not a real steep hill, buts its probaly a half mile long. is this normal. also, what type of battery tester should i get. the cart is all stock, for now. i would like to lift it etc, but want to make sure i dont need new batterys first. thanks in advance for any help.

Sounds to me like you are goin to need new batteries. Those are old and the years are spread out significantly. Sounds like previous owner replace them as they went bad. A pack is only going to be as good as it's weakest battery.

that's not too bad, but as colt said need to check your batteries. check the individual batts then the total pack and compare to the attached chart.
you will need a volt/ohm meter and a hydrometer for checking. neither are very expensive. after that, the next thing to do is change out the original 6ga. cables for at least 4 ga. if it hasn't been done. do all 13. this might give you a small seat of the pants improve meant by itself.
to confirm the type system you have, check the second chart. good luck.
you have a 99 txt.

from looking at the chart, i have a series cart. i run this cart everyday, for about 30-40 minutes. up hill, down hill, flat runs. i run it as fast as it will go most of the time. been doing this for about two weeks. i recharge after every run. it might be my imagination, but i think the cart is running better. is this possible. i am going today and get what i need to test the batteries.

Well charging them after every run is a fantastic idea! So you are probably right they are staying up better but still check them out individually to check for dropped cells.

by the time you get to the top of a long hill you will be going significantly slower just the nature of the beast, my batteries are about a year old and by the time I get to the top of the hill out back the batteries are tired and could use a break. a half mile hill seems like it would tire me out. after a quick break those batteries are ready to cruise. test them batteries, keep em charged like you are and keep an eye on em

the best advice i have is to go to the cartsunlimited web site and read all you can about batteries. it will save you heartache and money!
rc, what you are experience is right. the batts get progressivly stonger over first 20 cycles or so. what you are doing is absolutely correct. this will equalize the pack.

i have checked all the batterys, and here are the readings i got
battery #1 6.39v 1.300 s.c
#2 6.24v 1.275 s.c.
#3 6.28v 1.275 s.c.
#4 6.35v 1.300 s.c.
#5 6.23v 1.275 s.c
#6 6.28v 1.275 s.c.
