Default 2002 ezgo shuts off

I have a 2002 txt with pds system. Has a jake's 3 inch lift kit with 22 inch tires. Has plenty of torque and runs great at FULL throttle. However, if I'm just easing around I start having problems. If I drive it for an extended amount of time at less than full throttle, it'll run fine for a while, then it gets weaker and weaker until it finally just quits on me. Let it sit for 30-45 seconds and it starts working again. I drove it around today for about 30 minutes and it did this to me 3 times. I think it's getting hot and shutting off, but not sure. Ideas?

The controller is hitting Thermal Shutdown. you mentioned upgrades to the running gear, but were any upgrades done to the electronics? If not, they need to be done or you will continue to have this issue until eventually the controller burns out completely.

You are right, that is what it is doing. You need to upgrade the drive components on the cart and avoid driving at slow speeds.

The motor will burn up too, Rabbit.

I know, but typically the controller will take the hit before the motor will.....

Thanks guys. I've done no upgrades to the electronics. Suggestions? Ill have to start small. I built it mainly for easing around the woods. Although I do have a flip flop seat on it as well and the family loves to cruise down the road in it. I guess I would now categorize it as multiple-use.

Well PDS systems are not designed to put around and create a lot of stall...

It's a 36 volt cart. Forgot to mention that. Don't know if that matters. I'm new to all of this!

Scotty from Carts Unlimited can get you set up with the components you are going to need.
