Re: 3 position key switch installation help
A 3 pole switch isn't going to work unless you run the pack voltage from it to a Voltage inverter that drops down to 12 volts.
The reason the old switch has 4 poles is because it is 2 switches isolated from each other. They are separate. |

Re: 3 position key switch installation help
Are you running 36 or 48 volts?
you can use the 3 position switch, you just have to run the 3rd wire to a relay (36 or 48 volts based on your pack voltage) I know you already have a groud from the pack in the dash from the SOC meter you have so tap off that for the ground for the relay. |

Re: 3 position key switch installation help
yeah, it's the same relay that Club Car uses in it's 36 volt chargers.
I use the potter and Brumfield model T9AP1D52-36-01 and it looks like this: http://www.nivelparts.com/pages/prod...61&c=009003&n= Don't let the price on that site fool you, I sell mine for $10 each..... And Digikey has them for even less...... Edit: Scotty, he is going to use a 3 wire setup |

Re: 3 position key switch installation help
Thanks again Rabbit. Just ordered one. By the way, what does the relay do? Do you have a diagram of how to install it? Sorry for all the stupid questions but I am really nervous around electric, I don't want to fry anything or myself.

Re: 3 position key switch installation help
rxp, why not just run 2 wires so it will be on all the time? mine is wired that way because that tiny led set up uses almost no power. plus is looks cool when you walk by it at night.
