dcs no go......
hey guys! I have been a fan of the sight for quite some time now and this may be my firs post. I just picked up a dcs today and it will not go. I put batteries out of my other cart to just do some checking and found about 3v at the controller pin 1 white wire and 9.5 to 10v on pin 2 at controller. are there any other test i should be doing or is this a pedal box problem? first time wrenching on a dcs. any input is appreciated.

Re: dcs no go......
I was also wondering if the dcs and series carts have the same pedal box? I have a series cart that I can check it with.

Yes all of the TXT carts use the same ITS throttle indicator device.

Re: dcs no go......
ok I swapped the pedal industive switch and still have no forward or reverse. I also had water in the pedal box. removed water and dried out. after the inductive switch did not fix it I rechecked the wiring and found 20.XXV at terminal 2 black wire. unplugged at pedal box and had about 4.5 to 5v at terminal 2. pulled connector at controller and voltage dropped to about 0v, do I have a shorted controller?

Re: dcs no go......
If you are carefully following the DCS troubleshooting guide linked in the post above and it leads to a bad controller, then that is likely the case.
DCS carts had a major short coming which was they ate controllers up in very low voltage operation. If you run one down until it won't go anymore ... likely you just smoked the controller. So when you find one with bad batteries you can almost bet the controller is bad too. When you get it up and running the best thing you can do is to put a cheap analog battery meter on it. |

Re: dcs no go......
well that would make sense because the guy I bought the cart from instaled 4 8v batteries wich is only 32v probably not the brightest thing to do. Are the carts reliable if an alltrax controller is installed? any other issues with the dcs I should know about. is this a better on road cart. I am going to do a 4x4 cart and I was actually thinking this one would be a good donar but maybe not....

Re: dcs no go......
They are a very tough torquey system. You just can't run them low on voltage = consider your controller smoked with 4/8v installed.
I dunno if I could recommend anything other than a series cart for a 4x4 project..... you'll have to ask somebody else if you want a different answer |
