Default My new project

I'm starting with this (very) stripped cart...

and adding new controller, plum quick motor, wheels, jakes lift kit, undercarriage lights, scotty's SOC meter, custom painted body and roof, and who knows what else as the project continues.

this is what it looks like after last night:

Does anybody know if I can mount the alltrax controller so the leads come off the 'bottom'? Or does it have to have the leads off the 'top'?

(Referring to mounting PDF file...) Looks like it would be a cleaner install if I mount it with the wires off the bottom.

Thanks!

In your pics you have it mounted with the leads in the bottom?

I changed the mounting to match everybody else (leads off the top) ... having them come off the bottom would have been too tight and would have possibly let them rub on the floor pan.

Rob: I definitely do have a case of flat surface syndrome... but I actually do run the cnc quite frequently (at least once or twice a week) so not much ever really builds up there.

The cart lives!!!

Top speed: 38.3mph (no body, seat kit, or top)...

My 'testing' setup:

followed by a question...

how hot is too hot for a PQ motor? I didn't think to grab my IR thermometer, but after running for 2 or 3 miles or so up and down my street, the motor was quite hot... maybe 140 or so.. (not quite so hot that you couldn't hold your hand on it for a few seconds, but certainly hot enough to not let your hand be on it for long)

Even with all the speed, the torque and take-off were really good. I see having to wire the 1/2-speed override on the Alltrax controller into a 'turbo' switch or button on the dash.

She's complete (for now) ... next up will be getting the extended roof painted and installed... and I think I want to upgrade to a 650amp controller, just not getting enough low-end torque out of the PQ motor with the 400amp controller... all the cables are 2ga, so it won't be that big of a deal (other than $$$)
