Default 2001 TXT Battery or ITS or Speed Controller issue?

I have a 2001 Ez-Go TXT that I just purchased used from a friend who said it would not charge anymore. The batteries were bone dry so I went through the process of adding water and charging them with a manual charger and the cart seemed to run fine for several weeks, but it's gotten slower.

I charged the batteries and let them sit for 24 hrs then read them with a DMM and got 4.16, 6.25, 6.21, 6.26, 6.22, 6.26. The total pack voltage is 35.37 when sitting, and when running its usually around 30v, but it briefly got as high as 36v and as low as 20v.

The batteries are marked "Shipped Nov 04" so I know it's time to get new ones but I am holding out hope that I can get a season of use before I have to replace.

My question here is, I'm thinking I might have a ITS or Controller issue as well because:
- When I first get in the cart in the morning, is is creepingly slow - like 1 mph. As I ride it, it speeds up and runs at normal speed (appx 13 mph).

- Sometimes, when I push the pedal to the floor, it doesn't go as fast as when I push it about half way.

- I have felt it lurch forward a couple of times - sort of like it got a spike of voltage or something.

I may be confusing things here by bringing other possible issues into the equation before I resolve the battery issue, but just wanted to see if anyone here had advice. I've been searching the forums but have not found the exact answer yet.

And if I have to get new batteries, is it best to buy them local because of the weight and shipping costs?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to BGW

yes I would say the batteries are toast, and when you fix the battery problem, you will then see if you have any other problems, and yes I would look for batteries locally because of the weight/shipping. We need more info, look at this chart and tell us which cart you have

I fixed that first chart so it looked correct.

I agree with the above get some fresh batteries in that thing before you do some real damage. Its not a good idea to run a cart that low.
You have at a minimum 1 sure bad one.

I wanted to post an update, or probably more accurately a resolution that will probably close out this service ticket. I did start with getting new batteries, and that seems to have solved the problem. I was overthinking the issue and jumping to conclusions by bringing more complex problems into the equation. Thank you guys for humoring me. For the record, I put in 6 new T-605's (at 90 bucks each new from my dealer here in Panama City Beach) and it's like a new cart. Thanks again for your willingness to help, and I will be back for more answers on my next upgrade or repair.
