Roof painting nightmare

I decided to paint the top to my 2006 txt. Big Mistake. FML! I washed it, hit it with scotchbrite pad(red), wiped it off and painted it with Fusion. Scratched off just by me looking at it the next day.

My options now are, sandpaper the piss out of it to rough it up and roll herculiner on it or by a new top and leave it tan.

What would you guys do???

U did everything correctly except for applying an adhesion promotor before paint....sand it back down, 320grit will work, wash it with dawn and a red scotch brite pad untill the water no longer beads up on the pastic like rain x....then follow the instruction on the type of adhesion promotor u use....probley the easiest for u to get ur hands on will be some Bulldog adhesion promtor.

You have to watch that fusion. I painted an ice chest with it once, and same thing, it scratched if the wind blew too hard. The key is in the prep! (bed liner would work too!)

Oh I am planning on using herculiner like some others on here have done. Just on the canopy though. I have some 60 and 80 grit sandpaper that is about to rape the canopy to get it ready for the herculiner.

That plastic is the same as a milk jug. You have to apply an adhesion promotor before paint or it will come off every time. I know a lot of guys who paint plastic and it is the norm if not prepped correctly.

This thread caught my eye. I never thought to use Herculiner on a cart roof? What else you use it for?
