How old are my new batteries?
I got new batteries a couple weeks ago (105 T Trojans). They've been doing great and seem to improve with every charge (as they should).
Today I finally remembered to check the manufacture date on them and its K 1. I've read that there's no differentiation between, say, 2001 and 2011. Since K=November, am I to assume that these batteries were made in November of 2001??? Maybe the 1 stands for 2010? That would make more sense. But even if they were made in November of 2010, that's almost a year old. Should I be upset? My golf cart guy had them shipped from Trojan, just before he installed them. What do you think? |

Re: How old are my new batteries?
I don't have any numbers on the positive terminal.... I wonder why?
So are you saying that if there's a "1" on the negative terminal, then it has to have been shipped from the factory in 2001? |

Re: How old are my new batteries?
I would say you have 2011 batteries. Doubtful anyone, manufacturer or sales, would have a 10 year old SET of batteries to sell and they still work. The K sounds odd for sure.

Re: How old are my new batteries?
I just reread your first post, you have K1, then they are Nov of 11

Re: How old are my new batteries?
Well Crap,
I just went out to see if I just wasn't looking hard enough on the positive terminals, and its obvious that they've all been steel-wooled off. I'm getting a bad feeling about this. I need to call the golf cart guy, but I want to make sure I'm understanding this. The K1 means it was shipped out of the Trojan facility on November of 2001. And for some reason, the manufacturing date has been removed. I'm not a very happy camper right now. |

Re: How old are my new batteries?
We were writing at the same time. But the example that the Trojan website gives for the date is that the number is for the year.........i.e. (according to them), and that if there is a "1", it means its the last letter of the year. And they go on to say that something like a "2" could mean 2002 or 1992.
Is there anything in the installation that would require a rubbing force to be done to the positive terminal, so that the date on there could be accidentally removed? |
