Driving lights situation
I have a 99 TXT Freedom model that has what looks to be a factory headlight bar and also has driving lights mounted under the headlight bar. There is a separate switch on the dash for the driving lights and everything has worked fine for the past four years that I have owned the cart.
This morning, the driving lights went out after about five minutes of driving and then came back on again later. The headlight bar stays on fine and is controlled by the key switch. There is a wire coming out of the wiring harness that connects to the positive post of two batteries from the main negative 36v leads. Seems to be all the lights may be 12V and the last two batteries in the pack are used to supply the 12V. Anyone have any ideas on the solution? Thanks |

Bad connection or switch on your driving lights.

Re: Driving lights situation
The generic switch on automotive driving/fog light packages is junkie at best, and certainly not suited to outdoor usage. I have seen them fail in as little as one year.

Re: Driving lights situation
It acts like there is a circuit breaker in the line somewhere and resets after a while. Is that possible? Is there is wiring diagram for adding the factory light kit? There is no mention of lights in any of the TXT service manuals.

Re: Driving lights situation
If the previous owner did the driving light install correctly there should be a small relay in the circuit to keep the high current load separate from the junkie switch. The relay could be failing.

Re: Driving lights situation
Here is driving light switch apart. Looks too clean inside. You can see small rub marks where it is making contact. No relays. Measured current in series with switch and is 7.3 amps. Does this switch look heavy enough for that current?
