Default 1989 ez go no power

my 89 ezgo has a bit of a problem going at first but when you get going it will speed up, happens in both reverse and foward, has absolutly no power taking off, wont even climb a little hill, batteries are perfect, the guy i bought it from said it wasnt the motor, can it be the tensiometer? or f/r switch? help would be appreciated

Assuming a controller cart, check potentiometer for smooth increase from 0k ohms at no throttle to 5k ohms at WOT.
Check FNR for signs of heat.
Still not a bad idea to check batteries for voltage and specific gravity.

It is the forward and reverse selector. Look right behind the lever that you change direction with.

Sorry, I do not have one but I'm sure the sponsors on this site can hook you up.

The FNR can be rebuilt. Parts for a rebuild are available as well. It's pretty straight forward with basic tools. If you choose to rebuild I would suggest upgrading the buss bars at the same time. I'll PM you a link on a step by step FNR rebuild.

Hopefully some of the site sponsors will chime in here if they read this.

Good luck.
