Question 98 dcs rear end grind noise

I have a 98 dcs making noise when i let off the pedal. The noise is quite loud. If you used a screwdriver on bicycle spokes while riding. I jacked it up and it made noise when i pushed the pedal. the motor was jerking a little. I pulled the motor and noticed the input shaft splines were torn up a bit. I was going to order a new input shaft. When I look up the motor coupling to order on, it has a date of 1988-1996. I have a 98 with a electric vehicle power systems motor. any ideas on what coupling i should order? I am going to check the bearing on the back of the motor.
