Always wanting more
Well I just gone done upgrading my cart. Got a 500 amp alltrax controller, HD f/r cam, plum quick rewind, and 2 ga. cables. I had bought the cart used a few months ago, and didnt know that it had a high speed motor installed until I was in tearing it down to install my new parts. The torque is worlds better but my top end seems to be right around the same. I guess I was just expecting more, but the cart is still a 36v txt. Will upgrading to 48v and my same setup make more of a difference or should I get a hold of plum quick and see about upgrading the motor again? The cart has stock tires as of now, but plan on lifting to 23's around christmas time. Maybe I'm asking too much from my cart too. Thanks for your input.

Re: Always wanting more
The larger tires will give you 2-3 MPH more on the top end. Jumping to 48V would increase both torque and speed. Doing both would be ideal! More torque and more speed.

Re: Always wanting more
Also, if you are trying to cram 500 amps down an older 6g cable system, you are not reading enough of the forum
Size matters (and condition) But, yes, top end speed does not change with amperage increases in a series motor....The increase to 48v will give you a 30% speed increase plus the tire change increase. |

Re: Always wanting more
i have 2 ga. cables that I just made. If I understand correctly, if I convert to 48v I'll need a new charger and solenoid. Also reprogram the controller and stuff.

Re: Always wanting more
Sorry speed reading, I missed the cable upgrade. ... Oops!
The controller does not need program changes for 48v. The solenoid can remain on 36v. Some solenoids can do 36 or 48 = what solenoid do you have? And lastly yes, you will need a way to charge. |

Re: Always wanting more
I ordered the controller and solenoid from you about a month ago. Its not the heavy duty solenoid though.

Re: Always wanting more
Yes it is the heavy duty 200/800 amp solenoid because that is the smallest I sell, the Super-duty is 400/1000 amps. Depending upon how you plan on getting 48v you can configure your solenoid coil to operate on either 36 or 32v while conducting the 48v drive supply
