Controller has failed. Typical fwd in rev type operation or one direction only operation are also typical DCS failures.

DCS is a good system if you use it within it's limits which are simple. Avoid low voltage situations. DCS controllers have no protection from overheating due to low voltage situations.
Everyone of them should have a battery meter on it
If you replace the control with an Alltrax DCX it will have a programmable low voltage cut off.

Well in your post where you say that , ( quote )-- switch in run pos. very little spark when attaching pos.wire to batt, with the switch in RUN, The worse thing you can do is unhook the pos from the battery, that little spark may have killed your new controller

Rib,could be . I hooked everything up tight to start with then switched to run. I may go back to ezgo dealer and have them recheck controller. dealers only about 15 miles away in Myrtle Beach S.C. Thanks for the help everyone. Maybe i'll get it going again, ive had it since 98 and its been good. Thanks, will update if i find the problem.

Found out problem on 96 dcs. Wiring harness had bad connection on one wire causing solenoid not to work. The ITS ( block with hole thru it) was cracked, that is probably what burnt the controller up according to the techs.
