Help Jumping Solenoid

I have searched but cant find any detailed intructions on how to jump my solenoid. Can anyone please help

it is a 1990 EZGO seriers model I have 6 Trojan 6v batteries.

Years ago I started my ford with two large screw drivers
to short across the large screws.

You can go across the 2 large terminals with one end of an automotive jumper cable. Just make sure the other end is not touching anything metal. Also be careful of your resistor ( if you have one ). The other way is to use a spare battery cable.

Does anyone have any type of diagram im not too sure what you mean. I just cross the 2 main large terminals on the solenoid then press the gas to see if it worked.

I jumped the solenoid and got it to run does this mean I need to replace the solenoid, is there any other options. Thanks for the help

Jumping the solenoid simply takes the solenoid out of the operating system.

If the cart runs like that it means one of 2 or 3 things.

1. solenoid has failed
2. the solenoid activation circuit has failed

No, that is mot what it means. Without the jumper cable on: When you press the peddle down, does the solenoid 'Click'? If not, is the a battery back voltage measured across the two small posts? If it clicks, bad solenoid. If no click and you have voltage across then, bad solenoid. If no voltage, the problem is earlier.

If you 'Jump' from the battery side of the solenoid to the small terminal that has the red wire on it, does it 'Click'? If so the problem is earlier.

No there is no click, could it possibly be the micro switch.... How do I check it with a volt meter.

Now that you know the system works you need to determine if the solenoid is bad or you are not feeding 36V to the solenoid.
To test the solenoid, remove the wires from the two small posts on the solenoid, using two jumper wires run 36 volts or pack voltage to those two posts, if the solenoid activates then you have an issue with getting 36v to the solenoid like fuse, key switch, micro switch.
Follow the wiring diagram from the above sticky to troubleshoot.
If it does not activate with the jumpers you have a bad solenoid.
