Default 92 Draining the batteries fast.

I just got a 92 36 volt ezgo from my nieghbor for free. put six new batteries in it. the others were all bad (cracked or dried up). the cart moves forward and reverse. the cahrger reads about 20 amps when first plugge in. I can drive the cart about 200 yards and then it begins to slow down soon after the batteries seem to be just about dead. any ideas of why the cart is draining the batteries so fast. this is my first cart, dont know much about them.
thanks for the help.

First, read all " Scottyb's " battery tips ( http://www.cartsunlimited.net/ ), charge them fully by letting the charger run until it shuts off, or if yours is a timer charger, set it to " start " and let it charge until it shuts off. This takes 10 to 16 hours on most new batteries! After you do this try the cart again and see how it performs.
