Default electical,radio,broke

hey guys....for some reason when i would go the radio would turn off....it was charged and it would still do that.... so i read online that if you connect the positive wire to the f/r switch it will work...i did that...the radio turned on, i took it off and put it back on...as it turned on again, after that it turned off...i reconected it on to the battery and now it wont turn on at all..no fuses are bad.

You sent 36+ volts to a 12 volt radio. Not good.

I would find who ever told you to do that and have them buy you a new radio.

Yes, the positive on the key switch is 36 volts, why I think it was going out before is because 2 cart batteries are 12.6 volts, car stereos are about 14 volts. I would recommend a voltage reducer or a separate battery for the next stereo.

would the radio mainly cut off when you floor the gas pedal, and come back on shortly after.

If this is the case, you are dropping below the correct voltage to run the radio.

Its always good to check the voltage before connecting something like this.. I reccommend going with a voltage reducer to fix the problem.

Your batteries might be going bad? How old are they? How often do you charge? how low do you let the batteries get before a recharge? do you fill with distilled water? Did you break in the batteries properly?

Look at the site sponsors for a voltage reducer, you hook it up to all the batteries (36 or 48 ) and it provides a constant output of 12 volts, although it is actually + 14 volts. The output of the reducer does not go down when you start driving, it is constant. Just add the reducer between the accessories and the batteries.
