91 Ez GO CUTS OUT AT 3/4 THROTTLE

HAVE JUST BOUGHT A 91 EZ-GO 36 VOLT GOLF CART. HAD TO REPLACE 4 OUT OF SIX BATTERIES AND GOLF CART RUNS GREAT BUT AT 3/4 TO FULL THROTTLE IT ACTS AS IF YOU SHUT KEY OFF. ANY IDEAS? Works good in reverse. Is there a high speed mode that may not be working?

Which type of electrical system? Is it a resistor setup or does it have an electronic speed controller?

Cart has electronic speed controller.

The throttle for that model uses a potentiometer that runs from 0-5k ohms. 0 ohms being 0% throtle ans 5k being 100% throttle. Sounds like either your throttle pot (PB-6) is either going out of range or is just bad. You will need a volt/ohm meter to check it. Place the meter on ohms and probe the 2 signal wires.


Second theory. Check your F/R switch contacts. You may be losing connection when the cart gets under load.

There is no "high speed mode" to speak of. Only 100% throttle.

I have a similar problem.. when you press the pedal, it just clicks but doesn't run so you release a little bit and it goes but the speed is jumpy, not smooth at all. I bought a new potentiometer because i was told by my a mechanic that the pot was busted. It still doesn't go...
