Any way to make F/R knob easier to turn?
The guy who works on my cart said that the F/R mechanism is all enclosed, so I can't lube it somehow to make it work easier. Is that correct? When it gets cold, I can barely turn it. Any suggestions?
Thanks. |

you can get into the mechanism by removing the bolt and then the black plastic hat in front of the controller cover.

I used " Liquid Wrench " silicone spray on mine and now you can move it with 1 finger!

Hahahahahaha. Wow! I can not believe a "mechanic" said that. He is full of chit.

Dielectric grease and it will move like butter. You are suposed to lube a new switch with it. otherwise they are very hard to turn and can spark.

Re: Any way to make F/R knob easier to turn?
Thanks everyone. Can I just spray it/grease the area under the seat where it attaches without removing anything?
(My "mechanic" has closed his store, so I'll have to go elsewhere, which probably isn't a bad idea). I was going to call around to the various golf courses and ask where they have their carts serviced. Does that sound like a reasonable idea? |

just take out the one bolt/screw holding the plastic hat on. then spray something like w-d 40 on the contacts. you will also see the large bolt and nutnut in the center of the switch. you can turn the nut 1/2 turn to the left (out). this often helps a lot. also follow the linkage and lube it. good luck.

Hmmm......no plastic cover over the bolt and nut on mine. Maybe that's part of the problem? I better go out and look at it again, before I say something that isn't true. But I remember seeing the somewhat rusted nut/bolt.
