Default Brake installation pictures

Pictures per your request...!

As to the brake job, it actually was pretty easy. I got a little frustrated at adjusting the calipers. My .004 feeler gauge (instructions say .003-.005) was a very tight fit between the inside pad and the disc. Loosen the cable, and the parking brake wouldn't catch. I put it so the parking brake would "just" catch, and took it for a ride. I could feel no drag at all, and it seemed to stop a little better than the drum brakes did. My driveway is on a slight incline, and I parked it there. Just as I got out, the parking brake popped loose, and it started to roll. So tomorrow, I'll tighten it up some more. The instructions said there is a break in for the pads, so I expect there will be some drag when I tighten it up. I want to feel secure the parking brake won't let go. There is a hole on the end of that bracket, should a spring go in there? Mine doesn't have one, and it seems like a spring would help seat the parking brake bracket down on the bracket it sits on.

Wheels off, getting ready to remove the hub.

Removing the brakes are next

Applying the "generic" grease to the spline

New hub installed

Next the new bracket

Cable linkage re-installed on new bracket

Sorry for the out of focus...I forgot to set close up on the camera. But you can see the cable extenders. I originally put the equalizer bar on backwards...whoops. Better now.

I tightened up the linkage to where about 1/4 inch of thread is showing on the adjusting bolt, just like in the instruction picture. That seemed to do the trick!
Parking brake is holding, and feels like it did before. No noticeable drag.
Life is wonderful!

These old drum brakes look to be in great shape. Anyone want them before I throw them out? Just pay for the shipping.

Great pictures. Couple of questions.. Which brake kit did you get? And is your cart lifted?

I got the EZGO Electric Ausco Caliper kit. It's for non-lifted carts, but they had the cable extenders for another $17, because I have a lifted cart. Everything worked out great.

FYI, cartpartsplus.com while they last, $179.95 shipping included.

The website only shows the gas stock ( PK1998 ) and gas lifted ( PK1998 & PK2020 ) only. No electric kits...

I'd give them a call tomorrow, and see if they're sold out.

I believe he did sell out of them. He only had a handful of units that he purchased at the great deal and passed them on to us. They were listed in the clearance section on his website.
