Default pds not running consistently

I have a 2002 pds everything stock occasionally I push the throttle and the
solenoid clicks but the cart won't move foward especially after it has been
rhode for awhile and the controller starts getting warm seems to go in
reverse and run easier, is this a controller issue thinking it may be about
shot, climbs a few hills in Tennessee hunting, to give you a little info. on how
the cart is used

Sounds like thermal shut down. PDS carts can have cumulative damage when this happens.
Do you have any chip in it if so remove it. Don't creep around work the throttle and coast down hills.
I would also start saving for a new Alltrax controller especially if you are running hills a lot or using it as hunt buggy.

Thermal shut down takes some time to come out of. These resin filled controllers don't cool of in a matter of moments. If it works in reverse after the shut down you may have a solenoid issue and cycling it by shifting to reverse, is enough to regain the connection.
You really need to bring a DVM with you and test the solenoid when it is in the failed mode to be sure.
But yeah, if you are hunting the Tennessee hills with a stock control you are in need of a controller pkg.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Spawn & Scottyb this was the answer I was kind of expecting to
hear the only thing I forgot to mention in my first post was that when I
mash the pedal the solenoid clicks twice don't really know if that means
anything but thought I should mention it.

Get your meter out and see if it is not clicking on and then off...... we can't do much without a meter

Here's what mine did. I was doing a LOT of steep hill climbing. It became intermittent.

Not sayin' that's what happened to you, but a digital multimeter is a must for figuring these things out.

Yurtle has posted the typical 50-70 amp stock solenoid that is paired with the 275 amp stock controller. This pairing is designed for the groomed pathways of a golf course... When you consistently overload them, they will eventually fail.
NICE pics.

I went through a trouble-shooting routine in the stickies, which somehow convinced me it was my controller. I purchased a used controller/solenoid combo then tore both of mine apart, before the new ones arrived. My controller was good - and still is - but is now in a torn up package. I managed to rebuild the solenoid, while waiting for my used replacement to arrive.

In hindsight, if I had simply placed it on jack-stands and used jumper cables to bypass the solenoid, I might have saved a few bucks. But paying for lessons always works better for me, than learning from someone else's mistakes.
