Default Aux battery wiring question - RXV

If I add an auxillary battery in the area under the drivers seat to a 48v RXV to run all 12v accessories, can I wire it in parrallel to the adjacent battery in order to avoid having to have a seperate charger for it? I have never tried or seen a mixed series/parallel circuit before and am unsure if this will result in bad things!

I dont think you can do that. what all 12v accessories do you have? I think a voltage reducer would be a better way to go 48-12.

parallel wiring with the battery will cause charging issues, I recommend a voltage converter as well.

A 12v charger is really not that much of an investment. Harbor Freight, Northern Tools, etc have decent units that aren't too expensive.

If you go the route of an accessory battery make sure it is NOT grounded to the frame, and that all of your 12v accessories have power and ground run to that 12v battery. I run lots of LED lights, my head and tail lights, stereo, and 12v power outlet to my battery, all of which would add up to more power than most voltage converters will put out. Just food for thought.

With all the RXV issues posted on here I would be leary of adding anything to the pack. I would run a Aux Battery. Do like was said above and make sure anything that needs 12v is conected to that battery and not to a frame. Everyone should have a 12v charger. They work great on your car, mower, bikes, and can boost a dead pack up enough if it was run to low to kick in the cart charger.

You can add a 12v battery and a HF 12v solar charger. Some guys who park the cart outside never have to use any other charger for the Auxiliary battery.

Wink Re: Aux battery wiring question - RXV

I don't have the new model RXV but I do have the extra batteries with solar panel. The panel playes the radio and brake lights all day and the 12 volt stays at 13 volts.

This is on the monster cart. Have the same unit on the 04 at the beach. They say they aren't water proof but mine have been in the rain and washed off. No problems yet.

You can see both of them in this pic. The 04 panel has been on it now for almost a year and it has failed yet.
