2008 EZGO PDS Cart
Any help will be appreciative.
I Plugged the Red Speedchip in to my 2008 EZGO PDS Cart with it in the tow position and then flipped it to run and it did not seem to make a big difference at all. According to the GPS, It will run 12 MPH up a road that has the very slightest incline and coming back it is only 17 MPH. Does this sound right? It is giving the 4 beeps. It has 2008 trogens 105 and batteries with 4 gage batteries. Ok. I unplugged the negative and the positive for several minutes. With no change in speed. The motor did not get hot after 15 to 20 minutes of riding. The batteries checked out under load at 5.8 and 34.6 for the entire battery pack. I also place another speed chip with no change, still 12mph up the slightest incline and 17mph down hill. I also place another speed sensor in the motor with no change. I checked the ITS and the plunger and everything checks out OK. So my question is what can I check now? I know the cart should run approx. 20 MPH and I am no ways close to that. Controller, Motor or what???? |

Re: 2008 EZGO PDS Cart
Welcome to BGW
sounds like you have a bad battery or two, tape the Leeds from the DMV to each battery and take it for a ride and see what each battery drops to, 5.8 on a battery, is low, is this fresh off a charge?? the cart should be running about 18 or 19 |

Thanks for the reply!! Yes, this was after a full charge. What is the minimum they should dropped? Also, What is the minimum the entire set should dropped?

Re: 2008 EZGO PDS Cart
When I've seen my pack voltage drop under load, its been because of a bad cable connection. It should not be hard to determine which battery or cable(s) are giving you a problem.
I assume your water is topped off? My 05 PDS with 05 batteries (still working well) and the 'speed chip' runs 19 mph per our GPS on level ground. Going down small incline (we don't have many hills in FL!)l, the regen kicks in a bit and I don't really go any faster. |

Re: 2008 EZGO PDS Cart
On a full charge 38.2 , if your cart is droping to 35v you have 1 or 2 batteries are bad, or you could have some bad cables, and or connections, but 5.8 is 15% charged, and 34.6 is 15% charge, thats no good

Re: 2008 EZGO PDS Cart
I just rode around and all the batteries dropped when I took off to 5.6 or 5.8. I have them charging right now and I will test them again tomorrow. I also purchased a Hydrometer, I will use that tomorrow as well.

Re: 2008 EZGO PDS Cart
Also, make sure your charger is operating correctly (actually putting out current). You probably have one of the powerwise QE chargers with LED indicators, so can't actually see the amount of current going to the batteries directly (only a light). Looks like you have some sort of battery or charger problem. Good luck. - RAY
P.S. - My QE charger (also a 2008 ) has died already, with no hope of repair. |

Re: 2008 EZGO PDS Cart
I do have one of the chargers with the LED light on it, I also have the older one with meter on it. It looks like it is charging ok. I am still lending towards the batteries. They went to 5.7 when I first took off and going up a very small inclined on my road and then it slowly came back up to 6.0 on flat ground. If I had one cell dead in one battery would it show on the volt meter or the hydrometer?
