Default 98 TXT Controller Cover Removal

So I don't break something. Are there any tricks to remove the controller cover after I remove the bolts? It seems the cover is stuck and I don't want to break it.

First time I removed mine it was stuck. Just make sure you have all the screws out. Mine took a little beating/pulling to remove it.

Did you remove all the bolts? One or two hidden ones at the bottom.
If there is a Run/Tow switch on the cover (DCS and PDS carts), you've got to be careful of the wires that attach it to the controller, but other than that it ought to pop off without too much effort.

If it hasn't been removed in years, it might be sticking to the heatsink, so a little gentle prying with a knife or thin blade screwdriver might be needed.

Ezgo used a thin compression gasket that has some sticky properties. Pry it off with a stiff putty knife After you disconnect the battery main Negative.

" scottyb's " answer + if you're in a cold climate, heat the cover with a hair dryer until it's warm. The plastic is quite brittle and a bit of heat helps!

If going to a bigger controller just rip it off. You will never need it again(although I kept mine)

It will if you cut it in half, but DO NOT DO IT.
