Default 1992 EZ go stubborn in forward

Hello, my cart works good in reverse but takes several attempts to go in forward. Once it goes in forward it works great until I switch back to reverse. Then it is stubborn again. The switches are two connection micros and I switched the leads from reverse switch to forward and vice versa. Reverse still fine but forward still stubborn. Suggestions on what to check next?

Check the contacts on your F/R switch. A sure way to tell is to wiggle the F/R switch back and forth a little when it acts up....if it starts to move then its the Forward/reverse switch.

Thank you for your help. I went out to, "jiggle" but i had parked the cart with the switch on and in forward position. When I tried it, it moved forward instantly, I tried reverse and it was good, back to forward and a couple of pumps on the "gas" and it went forward. As I repreated the back and forth shifts it got more and more stubborn about forward. The jiggling didn't work but I think you are correct on the problem. the switch looks fairly simple to disassemble. If so, what is the best way to clean? By the way, I normally park in the basement and leave in neutral and switch off. The first move the next use is reverse.

Get a file and file the contacts flat.

Here is a link for a good step by step FNR rebuild.

You might consider upgrading the buss bars if you rebuild.

Thanks for all of your help. I'll rebuild shortly. I'm going to replace all 8 contacts but I don't see the advantage to the heavy duty buss bars. My original buss bars are the best looking things in my switch assembly.

Thanks to everybody for their help. I rebuilt the FNR switch but no change in performance. Replaced everything except the micro switches. Continuity check verifies the micro switches are working correctly. I'm lost

Have you inspected the cam on the F/R switch? The cam that touches the micro switch arm......
Not really a cam but a little endention the microswitch lever rides in....I'm wondering if the arm is sticking in the open position or the F/R is not traveling enough to close the switch.

I checked the switch and the indention and everything seems to be working good. The switch clicks when it drops into the indention and continuity check indicates that the switch is working properly. No continuity when the switch is in neutral, continuity when it is shifted into forward. This isn't a new problem. It's been like this since we got the cart (used), just worse lately.
