Thanks again...the holder (piece 14) is what I was calling the spring clips. I'm not looking forward to replacing the brushes, but at least they aren't soldered in.

You will need something to press the shaft out off the bearing in the end. Main thing right now is to inspect them, which you can do without pressing the shaft out of the bearing, and see if they are bad at all. 4 cables, 3 bolts and the motor will slip right off the input shaft. (a little wiggling helps) Then 2 long bolts that hold the can on and you will be able to view the brushes.

Problem solved. I disconnected the reverse warning buzzer and re-connected using a new, straight wire. Everything works great except that I don't have a reverse alarm which I despised anyway. Thanks for all of your help.

Reverse buzzer should have no effect on your foward direction unless something is wrong with your wiring.

I couldn't agree more. Never the less, it fixed the problem. If I had a wiring schematic I might be able to explain it, but right now I'm happy.

Hey, If it's working for you thats all that matters. Makes it hard as hell to diagnose it on a forum though. LOL! Once you know how a series sytem works you can wire it up several ways...someways are easier for others, some not.
