Smile 1995 - Electric Medalist - What is it Worth

My Neighbor has a 1995 Electric Medalist with new batteries bought in Dec 2011 and a PowerWise II charger. It has a roof and a break away windshield. What would this be worth? Tires need patching or replacing because they are leaking air. I would like to buy this and put a back seat on it for the kids and wife to take to the neighborhood pool. Please help me I am new to golf carts! Thanks in advance.

Looks and rides good. I don't know about the frame from what I can tell it is sturdy...

the medalist is the same as the later txt except for the bodies. med.=metal and txt=plastic. that is a great platform to mess with. can you tell what drive system you have? i prefer the series over the sepex models. the txt body will fit on the medalist. my avatar shows a medalist with a txt front.

and welcome to BGW!

Most all the Medalists were Series wound motor carts. The value is based upon your local market values.
Check for golf carts on your local craigslist for comparison.
Those batteries are new but they are small. I would recommend the 2200 series.
I bet the seller wants to be compensated for buying new batteries but he cheaped out and bought the small ones!
The metal body older cart is heavy. It may not give good run times with the smaller 1800 batteries and you want to add a 150# rear seat and more passengers?
You may do well to keep shopping for a newer cart unless the price is low. That's my opinion

To expand on what Scottyb said.

US Battery make 5 levels of Golf Cart batteries. From lowest capacity to highest they are:
US-1800 = Low Capacity
US-2000 = Reduced Capacity
US-2200 = Standard Capacity
US-125 = Increased Capacity
US-145 = High Capacity

The US-2200 roughly equates to a Trojan T-105, which is the battery other GC batteries are typically compared to.

On the other hand, A Powerwise II charger is a very good one. (That's what I've, so I'm biased. )

I think the cart looks really good. I wouldn't go as far as saying he CHEAPED out, but rather went the more economical direction. Not everybody has chit loads of money to spend on batteries.
