Advice from some 36 volt cart drivers
I just purchased a 96 ezgo medalist in decent shape frame/body wise. Batteries were shot. I have been talking with scottyb and looking at my options, was top notch answering questions and helping. I had planned to convert to 48 volt (6-8volts), new HD FR, new controller, 2g cables, factory motor. Put a 5" lift and 22 x 11 x 10 mud lites shooting for completion by the end of Feb.
Here's the kicker: Lost our day care lady two days ago for our 4 month old and my wife has just about decided to stop working and stay home with the baby. I support this 100%, it just cuts our income by about 40%. So my super cart has turned into budget cart overnight. I have a 2010 polaris ranger that I use at the ranch, but I wanted to build something quiet to just corn the senderos and drive to the stand. Will be driven on a gravel road mainly and through some dirt roads and that can get slightly sticky. Not driven alot through real rough stuff. Can use the ranger for that. So here is my list for budget cart: 5" lift 22x11x10 mud lites 6 - 6v T-105 batteries new 4G cables Factory FR Factory Controller Factory Motor Will remain with only one seat with a small rack and a 50lb road feeder on the back. Will not carry more than two people. Is anyone running a set up similar to this? Does it work ok? Obviously this is not the best set up and will have a lot less power than the 48 volt set up, but will it be tolerable? Any feedback from guys running something similar to this would be greatly appreciated. Love the forum, has taken me from knowing nothing about a cart to having a good understanding of whats going on. |

Re: Advice from some 36 volt cart drivers
welcome dale. ran mine like that (only 23s) for a long time before the switch to 48. for not much, you can build your own cables, altho scotty's are very nice. also you can upgrade your f/r switch yourself, using scottyb's hd copper parts. good luck.
ps then all you will need is a controller and 2 xtra batts and a couple of extra cables. if you happen upon a good deal on a hd 36v solenoid, you can use it now and use with 48v. |
