Default battery charger problem

I have a ez-go xt-500 turt truck the battery charger is a total charge III model #26986001 serial 02374 problem is it does not shut completely off it will start out at say 18 amps drop down to 3-4 over 8 hrs or so but will not shut completely off, any help would be greatly appreciated. I cannot find any troubleshooting guides on this.

Welcome to BGW!

1. Unplug the charger from 120AC power.
2. While listening carefully, plug the charging plug up to the cart. Do you hear a "click"?
If so then your charger is more than likely fine. If it doesn't click then your board is fried, probably the relay on the board. Buy a new relay board.

If it clicks then you need to check ALL of your connections and make sure they are clean and tight, check the charge plug and receptacle contacts and make sure the batteries have the proper electrolyte level. If you verify all of this is good then your batteries might be shot. Can you try another charger?

Just about any of the site sponsors can get you the board. They are a common item.
