VIN number on E-Z-GO

My insurance carrier has asked for a VIN number on my Electric cart. I can't seem to locate it anywhere. There is however a Ser# sticker located below the charger port on the front wall of the seat. I have what I believe is a 2005, least wise it was sold to me as a 2005 model.
Also, the area where I live is quite hilly (Tx hill country) so I lose speed going up the hills even on gradual slopes. I was advised to replace the controller with a 500 amp. and go to 4 ga. wires all the way to motor. Estimate was 600.00 bucks.
Anyone know of a reason this won't solve the problem, or at least mask it?

Golf Cars do not have VIN numbers, they are not road legal vehicles.

Contact your local authorities to discuss the process of making yours legal.

Depending on the specific controller they are using, that would be a fair price (installed).

As for the performance, that depends on whether you have a Fleet or a PDS.
