Default EZGO PDS Performance Options

I recently discovered that the PDS can be optioned for Speed, Steep Hills, Mild Hills and All Terrain by changing the strapping on the J2 connector to the controller. This connector apparently is sometimes described as as chip.

A couple of questions:

Is there a need to "reprogram" the controller by some combination of forward and reverse movements of the cart.

Since changing from the Speed option to the Mild Hill option only requires removing or cutting one of the straps. Has anyone inserted a switch in this strap and changed the option "on the fly" between the two?

All you have to do is flip the run tow switch off and on.

Yes there are many different ways to switch but you will still need to flip the run tow switch.

I made a rotary switch for mine. I can twist it through all 4 modes at will.
I do have to say for what I do at the camp grounds I use the Mild hill and All terrain settings the most. If I get froggy and stay on the paved roads I may use freedom mode.

Do some research and you will find as long as the cart is a stock cart you will be fine but as soon as you get a little into modding then you need to move on to a upgraded controller.

I only use Mild hill and Freedom modes, so I just added a SPST switch to the jumper between Pins 2&3.

Here's a chart with the various plugs.
