Default Front wheel bearing maintenance

what is the best grease to use for this lower speed app. i know a car uses the real sticky, heavy grease, which seems like to much resistance. or will regular all purpose grease that you use from a grease gun work. might as well catch up on some maintenance while its cold out.

Everyday old household wheel bearing grease will do just fine.
While your at it check the steering rack or gearbox also.

Refer to post 2.

There might not be a zerk so on the rack you pull the boot(s) back and cycle the rack to one end and coat if with grease, then same on other end.
On steering boxes without a zerk you have to remove the cover plate to add grease.

i did find 1 under the dirt and grime on the foot rest side. Do I still need to manually grease it or will the zerk take care of that. I hate greasing stuff to much that it breaks seals and boots and then another prob.

If you are off-roading,use Marine-Grade grease.

I've been using Lucas "Red N Tacky" for everything from my 5th wheel to the wheel bearings on all my vehicles that can be repacked. It's a synthetic with good water repellant properties, pressure capacities and consistancies. When I get to that point on my build, it will be in every zerk, on the cart, I can find.

I've heard about the Lucas, but never used it.I'll have to look into it.Another really good grease is Mystic in the green tubes. They sell it at Tractor-Supply.We used to use it when I worked in a fleet-shop on heavy-trucks 20yrs. ago.We were buying it thru a distributor and it worked awesome.I still use it today for most stuff.I like the Marine-Grease for the hubs since they spend a lot of time submerged when we run the trails out back, especially in spring.
